Frequently Asked Questions
The Answers You Need
Are prizes awarded?
Awards and prizes are given for the following:
-
Medals for all finishers
-
Prizes for the fast ones
-
Goodies
What facilities are available?
The race is based and supported by Frieth CEC School. Refreshments, BBQ and food will available. Both cash and card will be taken. Toilets, bag drop and onsite parking is also available.
How do I get there?
The race is started from Frieth CEC School, Frieth. RG9 6PR
How do I enter?
Entry is managed via Eventtrac at https://frieth-hilly.eventrac.co.uk/e/frieth-hilly-5km-and-10km-11812
The event is full, do you have a waitlist?
The event is very unlikely to sell out this year. It would be great if you could sign up in advance at https://frieth-hilly.eventrac.co.uk/e/frieth-hilly-5km-and-10km-11812. However, we will have entries open on the day but please be there by 09:00 so we can get you processed.
Where do I park?
There is a large car park (field) at the top of the village. It will be well signposted, and we will have a marshal present. As the car park is on the 10km run route we will close this at 0945. Please park considerably.
When do I get my race number?
You'll pick this up on race day morning, from the Race HQ, situated inside the village hall. Please pick it up by 0945. We will provide safety pins
Are their time limits for the races?
Not for the 5km but we would like all 10km runners to be complete by 11:30 so we can start the prize giving soon afterwards.
Do you have secure baggage facilities?
No. But you are more than welcome to leave a bag in the school hall when you run. Please note that whilst the hall will have marshals in it, we will not take responsibility for these bags.
Trail shoes? Road Shoes?
Over half of both courses is either on the road or light tracks; there are only small sections which are truly off road and can become a bit slippy if we have rain. So, it’s up to you; both will work just fine.
Are the roads closed?
No. We use public foot paths and local roads. All runners need to be considerate to all other road users (walkers, horse riders and cyclists). The course is well marshalled, and they will inform you if there is anything you need to be aware of.
What on course facilities do you provide?
There is a water station at 1.5km for the 5km and 6.5km for the 10km. This will be run by our local Scout group, so please give them a high five!
Will I get lost?
We hope not! We have lots of marshals out on the course and the course itself is well signposted. We also have a mountain biker acting as a sweep to ensure we pick up any stragglers.
Are these events official?
Yes. We are members of the Association of Running Clubs and both races are fully covered by our race permit.
Do you have medics?
Yes. We have medics onsite at HQ. They can deploy to pretty much anywhere on the course.
What’s at the finish line?
Lots! Firstly, for all runners there will be a medal and some goodies to help you replenish straight away. There will then be refreshments stand selling hot and cold drinks, bacon baps and cakes. Let’s just hope your supporters have left something for you!
Water at the Finish Line?
Every year we lay on water in plastic cups for the runners but every year we throw away hundreds of these cups – what a waste. We will happily provide water but what we would kindly ask (where possible) is you to bring your own vessel and you drink from that; we will very happily refill it for you. Together we can reduce our plastic consumption at the race.
Bikes and Dogs?
I’m afraid we can not have dogs on the course as the school is a dog free zone and the finish line is in the school grounds.
We are more than happy for people to cycle to and from the run and there are plenty of places to stash your bike.
